Founded in 2022, Oaknna Foundation is rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and the chance to build a better future.
The name “Oaknna” combines the Oak and the Na — symbols, inspired by two women whose lives were rooted in compassion, strength, and caring for others.
The “Oak” represents Awatif Amin, the mother of Oaknna’s founder, whose strength and generosity inspired the foundation’s spirit. The “Na” represents Chandra Siriwardena, whose kindness, resilience, and dedication to others carried the same values across cultures and communities.
Their legacy lives on in every life touched, every opportunity created, and every community strengthened.

Oaknna Foundation is a charitable and educational nonprofit dedicated to empowering displaced youth, refugees, women, and individuals with disabilities through mentorship, workforce development, skills training, and inclusive education programs that promote long-term self-reliance and opportunity.

Our vision is to transform lives and thereby transform the future.

Our values are empowerment, collaboration and accountability.
Oaknna Foundation is a humanitarian and development organization committed to advancing education, inclusion, and opportunity for marginalized Sudanese communities in Sudan and the diaspora.
Our programs provide structured support for youth, women, and individuals with visual impairments whose education, livelihoods, and stability have been disrupted by conflict. Through mentorship, skills development, leadership guidance, and inclusive learning opportunities, Oaknna helps displaced individuals rebuild their pathways toward independence and long-term resilience.
Oaknna’s work also extends to women refugees in Minnesota. The Bloom initiative supports refugee and immigrant women through mentorship, empowerment coaching, and skills training, fostering economic self-reliance and community integration.
Across all initiatives, Oaknna Foundation upholds a commitment to dignity, equity, and sustainable impact.
